Multiverse Tower Defense How the Upgrade Tree Works
Spend account Cash on the tree after the lane holds, not before.
The official Roblox description lists the Upgrade Tree in the same breath as enchant, fusion, and Trading Plaza. It is an account board, not a unit board. Players who dump starter Cash into tree nodes before they can clear Classic leak on wave six with a prettier profile and the same empty lane. This page is the spend order for Multiverse Tower Defense after you have followed getting started.
Tree versus unit power
- Upgrade Tree — permanent (or reset-rare) bonuses on you: economy, placement quality, maybe luck or Cash from wins. It does not change CatNap’s tooltip until you also enchant CatNap.
- Match upgrades — Cash earned inside a wave. That is how you level a placed unit during Classic.
- Fusion / enchant / Ability Spins — unit body. Spend MultiShards here, not on random tree leaves.
If a node and a summon ten cost the same Cash, the summon ten usually wins on a new account. The tree starts to matter when Classic is free and you are pushing Hardcore or Raids.
Where to find it
Open the lobby. The Upgrade Tree sits with other account panels (index, guild, Plaza), not inside Shop Redeem. If the panel is missing, you are in a match or on a stale server — rejoin, same fix as a missing Shop from how to play.
First nodes worth buying
Public tooltips move with patches, so rank by job, then read the live node:
- Economy / Cash from wins — more Standard tens without AFK exploits.
- Start Cash or early-wave income — fewer panic sells on Classic.
- Placement / range quality if a cheap node exists — helps every unit you already own.
- Luck only if the cost is smaller than a Beast Warm single. Luck nodes do not replace Admin Abuse windows on summon banners.
Skip cosmetic or mastery-looking leaves until Final Act / mastery actually ties them to combat. Player profiles were announced to show cosmetics after that update; buying a flex node before then is a poster, not a clear.
What not to do
- Do not empty
MTDCash into the tree before five wins and Redeem. Codes are still locked. See how to redeem. - Do not buy every node in a branch because the art is a bigger crystal. Dead branches exist in every live tree.
- Do not reset the tree because a YouTuber showed a different path on a different Roblox TD.
- Do not confuse Guild Pass / SCP Crate with tree nodes. That pass is on the Guilds track.
A session plan
- Clear Classic.
- Redeem codes.
- Standard ten if you still lack a Rare.
- Open the tree. Buy one economy node if it is cheap. Stop.
- Play another universe. If the node paid for itself in Cash, buy the next economy leaf. If it did not, you misread the tooltip — refund is rarely a thing, so read twice next time.
- After a keeper Epic+, put Cash into fusion before more tree.
Tree and co-op
Online co-op does not share your tree. A friend with a stacked tree still cannot place your missing DPS. Bring your own board. Server size stays ten.
When the tree is “done”
You are done with early tree when Hardcore Classic is the next badge and your carry is enchanted. Late tree is for Raid weeks and weekly weakness, not for filling every icon. If a patch retunes nodes, check patch notes before you spend a second stack.
The Upgrade Tree is the slow account layer. Treat it like a savings account, not a gacha.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Multiverse Tower Defense on Roblox.
Is the Upgrade Tree the same as upgrading a unit in a match?
No. Match upgrades use wave Cash on a placed unit. The tree is an account panel in the lobby.
Should I buy tree nodes with my first MTD Cash?
No. Redeem codes, hold Classic, then buy one cheap economy node if anything.
Does the tree work in Raids?
Account bonuses apply everywhere they are coded to. They still do not replace a fused carry. Read Raids.
Will Final Act reset the tree?
The studio has not posted a reset. Wait for Final Act notes before you panic-spend.
